Farm Hazard - [Other case studies]

A 16 year-old trainee on a placement at a farm from a local college overturned an all-terrain vehicle (ATV or 'quadbike') and dislocated her shoulder. She was riding the ATV downhill when she lost control and struck a tree. The machine overturned, landing on top of her, injuring her shoulder and trapping her leg.

What happened next?
HSE took enforcement action against the farmer in the form of an Improvement Notice which required him to provide training for everyone using the ATV.
